Probably the most annoying phrase I hear in dance competitions is when the judges go:
The dancing could have been better but doesnt matter because you are a GORGEOUS and beautiful, and sexy and…. this and that, so you go girl/dude!
Really!???? You’re gonna critique their dancing as rough, but then end it with a praise of their looks and beauty and long legs whatever…. Judge em by their skill, not their looks! GAH Stop praising the people with a lot of hype if they don’t have the substance. This goes for any kind of ‘talent’ competition. Singing, dancing, yodaling, watever. On TV or not. Like stop letting good looks over power what the competition is about.
Hear me out here though, yes it is a hella plus if you’re good looking and can dance (like me ;]) and I know they do let those “Susan Boyles” go through where if you do have talent but not that good looking they’ll still let you through. I get that. BUT its when they let the ‘Paris Hiltons’ slide through with just mediocre talent…. Thats what gets me.
So yeah thank you for listening & I’m totally saying this in an Alexander Wallace voice right now but sal good and loud…. IN THE LIbRARY!!!! lol
